Quick question, I'm traveling on business and will be in River Falls WI with a few hours of free time. It is only 30 minutes outside Minneapolis....
If there is a real good bass shop I'd love to check it out. I'm from the NY metro area so your standard GC or Sam Ash probably won't warrant the drive unless they have a great bass department.
Thanks in advance..Pete

Also, Opaquebass might know of a few too, he's from around that area.

| | | | Willies is the best of those. Groth doesn't have much high end stuff. Encore music and Twin town guitars can be hit or miss on the bass front (mostly miss).
I don't think planet bass has a retail location, they are mail order only IIRC. I might have tried to drive up there a while back. No shop there... |

I was in La Crosse yesterday and didn't bother going into Dave's didn't look like anything interesting.

I was in La Crosse yesterday and didn't bother going into Dave's didn't look like anything interesting. | Dave's is supposed to be good for guitar stuff, but I haven't been. I think there are a couple locations. Willies is pretty awesome. They don't have a huge selection, but it is all quality stuff, a fair amount vintage. |

Don't bother with either GC there. Both have the worst bass department (if you want to call it that) I've ever seen.

The one in Edina had decent people working there, but not much of what I was looking for. The one in Roseville had a bit better selection, but the annoying little sales boy got to be too much--even after I told him that if I need help, I will find you--he still wouldn't leave me alone for 5 minutes. It got pretty annoying trying to give basses a test run when he constantly kept coming up to me and asking if I liked them. My God, can I at least get a chance to plug it in first???

The website is http://my-music-store.com/ and you will NEVER meet a nicer staff.
