Mitch Mitchell, drummer and last surviving member of the Jimi Hendrix Experience, was found dead in a Portland, Ore., hotel Nov. 12.
Mitchell was touring with the "Experience Hendrix Tour," which wrapped its West Coast leg Nov. 7.
Sgt. Brian Schmautz, a Portland police spokesman, told the Oregonian that an employee at the upscale Benson Hotel called police after discovering Mitchell's body. "It was natural causes," Schmautz said, "so we weren't involved beyond that."
Mitchell pioneered a drumming style that would later be known as fusion. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1993 as part of the Jimi Hendrix Experience. http://www.pollstar.com/news/viewnews.pl?NewsID=11816 |

I also bought the DVD release of Experience Hendrix and man-o-man, what a rhythm section Mitch and Billy Cox were.
Mitch looked healthy enough in the DVD from last year and I'm saddened by his passing. "If I don't see you no more in this world, I'll see you in the next one and don't be late" |
