I've been seriously considering selling a bunch of non-bass related stuff layin around my house in order to score one of these. Does anyone have anything to input on these contraptions? I mean, technically they're not very similar to a bass at all, but it really WOULD be fun to have one and be able to whip it out; scaring/amazing bassists, guitarists and people in general.
If you haven't seen them, the site is just http://www.megatar.com
Share your opinions in general, too! It's mainly just to actually PLAY, but it's nice to know what people seem to think about it.

1. More expensive
2. Weghted rather poorly (unless you get an expensive one)
3. Usually not my thing, except for the 6 string I've got my eye on right now
Plus, this instrument would be used expressly for tapping since it was designed so.

This company is just like Stick Co. or Warr Guitars. They make tapping instruments, designed for tapping only. Though they have a bunch of strings, they are most definitely not seen as Extended Range Bass Guitars.

I have played the 8 string Stick , as a bass player in a 4 piece band, and will be playing the Warr soon. They are all extremely fun to play. Tonewise, the Warr wins. They also get tons of attention when playing live. They are easier to play than a regular bass. |

| | Now a major motion picture | | Join Date: Aug 2006 Location: Hudson Valley, NY | | | Are all of their instruments 12 string? I had a 12 string warr, and it was more than I needed. I think a 10 would work just fine for practically everybody. If I get another touch-style, it'll be a 10 string Stick, which can be had for reasonable prices on ebay. Also, if you go for it, be advised that while touch-style instruments are a lot of fun, there's a steep learning curve (it's really a lot more like a piano than a bass--but a hard piano in that the keyboard has height as well as width) and the gigging applications are few and far between. If you like to play out, you're much better off being a bassist. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
