Was chatting w/ someone today and I'm drawing a strange blank - list me some tunes from the past few years that are in 6/8 . . . any style, the more pop the better

Aerosmith's "Cryin'" and "Crazy" are the first ones that come to mind.

Alicia Keys - "Fallin" was the first one in my head.
Not so modern, but also: Queen - "We are the Champions" and Beatles - "Norwegian Wood"

The singer/songwriter of my band recently introduced a skeletal song to us; I suggested he change it to 6/8 and it instantly gave it some "gravitas". I love 6/8.

Judith by a Perfect Circle.

If you're into rock, that one's fairly mainstream

Similar as they are, a shuffle and 6 or 12/8 are not the same. Shuffles have asymmetric eighth notes rather than eighth notes grouped in threes. Not to say the rhythms are mutually exclusive...

Make it more interesting...what's out there in 7/8? I got 'Money', and the first slow bridge in 'La Villa Strangiato'.

Actually that's 7/4, the difference is in accents. In 7/8 you are counting like 123 12 12 with accents on 1.

St. Augustine In Hell by Sting, Don't Eat The Yellow Snow by FZ. Vinnie plays a two measure pattern on St. Augustine with an accent every other eighth note that's super cool. It almost makes me enjoy listening to Sting.

...heard "Iris" (Goo Goo Dolls) yesterday.
Sounds like some of it is in 6/8 (or a 6 over 4 feel).
