Mono Plugs & tone

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi all,

I recently decided to test a two high end (Vovox and Klotz) instrument cable brands against my tried and true Canare and Planet Waves cable. The results were extremely revealing (in more ways than one) and I discovered (somewhat to my surprise) that cables are yet another ingredient in building ones tone, not unlike pick-up and wood choices.

For the cable-is-a-cable sceptics out there, I also asked other musicians and sceptics to try the cables, and their comments on each cable's sonic qualities supported my views.

So it stands to reason, that if cable can make such a difference, so can the choice of mono plugs (and their counterparts).

My main criteria for an instrument plug up to this point has been reliablity: strong construction, durablitlity etc... However, I'm now interested to know if anyone has compared, reviewed or seen a review examining the sonic characteristics of 1/4 inch mono plugs from brands such as Neutrik, G&H, Furutech, Cardas etc

thanks!
