Mono Vs Portabag... Waterproof?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi All,

First post, so hopefully I have this in the right area. I'm looking at investing serious money in a softer case and I'm torn between the Mono Bass Case and the Sadowsky portabag. From what I can tell the portabag is far more "solid" however the mono is slightly lighter, and crucially for me, the website lists it as waterproof, which is my main stickling point. Does anybody have any experience with these two bags and a wet environment?

I have both and they're both excellent. I favor the Mono for the way it holds the neck of the instrument and the comfort of the shoulder straps but I favor the Sadowsky for the larger accessory pockets. If you're really worried about water, Scotchguard whichever one you get.

Awesome thanks, that's pretty much exactly what I was after, do you think it's worth forking out the extra for the apparent added protection of the sadowsky or are they much of a sameness?

I got one of these, for 90 bucks, and I tell ya, it's almost every bit the bag the Mono is.

Ibanez idbb5. It is an EXCELLENT bag. I've had mine just over a month, and thru all my gigs it has been excellent. It stands up on its own, has neck retainer straps, two huge pockets at the bottom for charts, cables, etc. And a top pocket for other accessories. Robust padding, casters, front stand, and not butt heavy. Good lining material, great heavy zippers, and a tuck-away back-pack style strap system. Very good quality luggage-style construction.

Just another option

And as suggested, I did in fact scotchguard it. funny.

I have had my Sadowsky portabag in the rain and haven't had any issues. It was only for 5 or 6 blocks, but was pretty heavy rain.

I have been really pleased with that case......and it is really solid.
