Montreal...?

Mods, I wasn't sure which forum in which this belonged. I put it in band mgmt as well.

Hi,

A lot gets posted on TB about how awful it is trying to get heard/played/booked in the USA. Burlington is probably as bad as most places for that. An added factor is the extremely narrow demographic that frequents clubs here.

My band (originals) has a unique niche sound.

Without giving away too much, I can tell you what we're NOT:

progressive rock or fusion (or any school of jazz), or punk or grunge, or metal.

We're starting to look North to our Canadian friends for booking opportunities, and I figured I'd post on TB to see if anyone could offer advice...

If you've read this far, then you either know that we're not trying to muscle in on your musical territory, or you're confident that the stage is big enough to share.

Here's the question:
What are the typical conditions for gigging in the Montreal region? It's good to know about stuff like: Pay to Play; demographics; market; publicity, agents, etc.

Merci d'avance,

Guillaume
