| | | | Moody Straps - Really worth the price?

I know there are a lot of Moody fans here on the board and because of this I'm tempted to get one. However the price is really warding me off. Seems like a lot of money for a fancy piece of leather. Are these really worth it? |

There's one about an hour from where I live that does great work, just give them dimensions and pick some leather and come back in a week, or have them ship it. They do it for about 80 bucks cheaper than Moody as well.
The only reason I'd get a Moody is because of her experience with straps, and the neat colors.

That being said, it is alot of scratch for a strap, and its the only good strap I own, so I have nothing to compare it to.

I've had my Moody for a while now (a TB one) and it's great on my Jazz basses. However, with my Sterling, my shoulder is getting sore quick. Within 30 minutes. I don't know how much any of my basses weigh. Is the leather backed one for padded or should I get a comfort strap for my Sterling? What about the Sadowsky strap?

It distributes the weight extremely well .... I have a 12.5 pound 7 string that I wear for some very long sets and I don't feel any issues at all ....
YMMV, but the Moody strap handles weight better than anything else I've ever owned, including the Comfort Strapp. Your weight issues/pain may be from something else .... how low do you hang the bass?

Much better that the Comfort Strapps I had, and looks (from pictures) comparable to the moody. Couldt justify the moody when I'v had good experience with Levy. |

If i had the money-i'd pick one up, if not for anything more than to see if i agree. They seem like they should be amazingly awesome and the end all of straps. However, i have a hard time figuring out a way to logic spending $150+ on a strap.
My main strap is a Levy's M6 that i bought late middle school/early high school [i'm now in my 2nd year of college]. The strap has served me well and is currently my only strap. I'd like to pick up more of these as i feel they are a great strap. 3.5-4 inches wide, black & smooth on the outside, slightly textured with some sheep skin on the inside. I love it. Now the catch-i'm not sure if Levy's is still making them anymore.
So moral of my post: If you have the money for a Moody's-go for it.

| | | | I just checked out her site, and while I'm sure they are nice straps, that is an obscene price.
I'll stick to my cheap "Get'm Get'm" strap...
I suppose if I had a heavier bass, I'd be all over it. |

(2) 2-1/2" for my Carvin 5 and '69 P-J & (1) 4" for my (boat anchor '77) Jazz. They are INCREDIBLE! The difference between saddle leather and Italian shoe leather. Well worth it if it is in your budget...but, so is a Porsche. My back is worth it - I'm getting older now and 3-4 hours of playing doesn't feel so great - puts a stress on the back.
