moody vs. italia straps?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi,
I was wondering if anyone had tried both Moody and Italia (www.italiastraps.com) straps. I was thinking about getting a Moody 4 inch, but then found that Italia straps look similar, are more than half the price, and have a buy 1, get 1 free special right now. That comes out to about 4 times cheaper. Just from the pictures the Moody does seem to look a slight bit higher quality, but that's not a real good assessment. In the end, I want the best qualityand money is secondary. The sting of cheapness lasts much longer than the sting of $$. Thanks for any input!

The Italia straps are really nice for the money. They aren't finished as well as the Moody's, but for the price, they're great. I use one all the time. The only caution is, they use such thick leather, that it is REALLY hard to mount straplocks on them. It took me a LOT of brute force and a set of pliers to get mine on!

I just purchased an Italia 4" strap a few weeks ago. For the money, it's an excellent strap. Thick, yet soft and pliable. I have no problems recommending them at all. In fact, I'm probably going to take advantage of the current buy 1 get 1 free offer and pick up a couple of more. If I don't end up using them myself, I'll use them as gifts for friends. lol...

The owner of Italia staps used to co-own Moody. I remember reading that on the Alembic web site. Alembic sell Moody staps.
I believe that the Moody use better quality leather, but are they worth the extra money? I do not know!

For the money, I could not be happier with my two 4" Itallia straps. I agree that the leather is thick and takes a little while to break in, but the quality is top notch for the price.

I bought mine off ebay, where they seem to have many auctions running concurrently. You can usually snipe one at the last minute and get the strap plus shipping for $31 total. Hard to beat that deal.

I don't know, but the owner of Moody straps is HOT! I met her at the Dallas Guitar Show a while back. HOT! I tell you!

Moody vs Italia has been discussed before - here's some threads: http://www.talkbass.com/forum/search...archid=2274887

IIRC - Some people had some problems with cusomer sevice in dealing with Italia (ordered one thing, got something different) and Moody almost always got glowing reviews. That was some time ago though, maybe those issues have been sorted out.

Have you considered the TB moody strap? I've been tempted to buy one of those for some time now.

Thanks for all the input! I think I might go with the Italia straps, seeing how they're so cheap right now. It's too good of a deal to pass up, seeing how they're pretty close to Moody.

So has anyone had the chance to compare the two straps?
