Moog LP for Bass

I just traded one of my basses, Warwick Thumb BO, for a Moog Little Phatty Stage II. I'm very happy with the Moog and haven't looked back. I actually liked my lowly Fender Mustang over the Warwick.

There is nothing quite like that analog sound of Moog. Does anyone else have one?

derelicte, the Little Phatty is a keyboard. An analog synth.

I haven't had that model but I've had most of the Moog synths over the years except the modulars. Memorymoog is still my hands down favorite. Poly analog all the way! Studio Electronics makes analog synths that to my ear really capture that magic too.

Derelicte, not totally wrong.

Your not completely wrong even though you thought it was something else. You can hook an expression pedal (Moog EP2) up to one of the four CV inputs and you can have endless fun.

The Little Phatty is a really great sounding synth. Nothing beats the analog synth sound. I've had digital synths and played a variety of Yamaha, Roland, etc. synths and while they are great, the analog sound is very distinctive. I'm playing it using my bass amps or headphones. Of course some of the presets are bad, but there are some great presets between the three versions of the Little Phatty. At this point I don't have enough understanding of the way sound is generated to create any unique sounds. I'll order the synthesizer cookbook soon. I'm currently learning a version of Frankenstein on it along with adapting some bass lines to it. I highly recommend one. If you do get one make sure you get the Stage II edition. It has the latest hardware and software enhancements. I suspect many of the ones being sold on-line right now might be the first Stage Edition.

I have a Moog Taurus... the low end generated from that beast is great for controlled demolitions in case you don't have any explosives on hand.

I want to get a Little Phatty to pair up with it... even better, my wife wants me to get one, thus it would be a wife-approved purchase! (She loved how Geddy Lee's sounded at the couple Rush shows we've been to over the last year.)

I bought one of these recently. It's an amazing keyboard... the digital presets are a godsend.

I love it so much; I've incorporated it into at least half of our set, and use it extensively for a hip hop project I'm working on.

It sounds great in the studio too.
