Moog Polyphonic Theremin--Check this out!

So I just got off the phone with sweetwater--guess what'll be here in 3-5 days!

Etherwave® Polytheremins

Introduced in 1928, the Theremin is one of the earliest and most widely known electronic instruments. Played by artists manipulating the pitch and volume of invisible sound waves radiated from a single antenna with their hands, Theremin music has distinguished hit records from such diverse artists as The Beach Boys, Led Zeppelin Clara Rockmore and Linkin Park.

Today (April 1st), Moog Music engineers carrying on the legacy of visionary founder, Robert Moog have announced the first major technical Theremin design advance in over 40 years. The PolyTheremin™ incorporates bleeding edge IsoDirectional Inductive Oscillator Technology, to isolate space around five individual pitch antennas thus enabling each to be played simultaneously (finger-by-finger) without interference from it’s companion antennas. This revolutionary concept breaks the long held belief that the Theremin could only be monophonic instrument.

The PolyTheremin ships with Dorit Chrysler’s instructional video “Playing the PolyTheremin is Even Easier Than Playing a Monophonic Theremin.”

The Video is what sold me on it

I can't wait!

Everything in life is easier than playing a monophonic theremin. I'll admit that I thought was a joke...IDIOT technology and all, and she really doesn't play all that much. But its on the MOOG website.

Good luck with it. Let us know how easy it is to play. BTW.... I think an opera on the life of Leon Theremin would be very interesting. Quite a unique man.

If I knew more about theremins, I probably would have known this was a joke right away, instead of having to read the youtube comments.

Oh that is genius. Way to go Moog for having a sense of humor. (people do realize today's date?)

PS - I have a theremin (not moog) and through a delay and distortion it's amazing to use live. Got it off ebay for $100.

Aww...I thought this was serious. Cool idea though. Moog making new polyphonic instruments, what a laugh.

LOL nice, the Stairway to Heaven was a nice touch and the acronym for Iso Directive Inductive Oscillator Technology, now that was awesome.

The idiot acronym instantly told me that it was an April Fool's joke, but then I realized I have a Moog Music shirt that says "i'm an idiot" and actually questioned it. I guess I am an idiot!!
