I need some comfortable shoes for tuxedo occasions.
What are the most comfortable pair of black dress shoes you know about?

I've got a pair of Bostonian Flexlite loafers that are incredibly comfortable.

Black wrestling shoes are comfortable but are becoming harder to find in ALL black without white writing or stripes. |

The Aces look better in person, and perhaps slightly better in longer sizes, than the pictures here, but i've never had better semi-dress shoes that can go either casual or formal: http://www.sasshoes.com/main/view_st...og.php?catid=1 |

I have a pair of light tan slip-ons with the nike sole, and they're really, really comfortable, not just "comfortable for dress shoes."

I really love Havanna Joe's and a pair of Rockports. I have a simple rule for all my shoes, I have to be able to run in them!! All my friends say I'm paranoid... but I like the fact that I can just "cut & run" and not worry about my shoes slowing me down, anymore than my near #300lbs of weight already does... =)~

Every person's feet are different (i.e. what fits me like a glove might pinch your feet). For sheer comfort out of the box, I am a huge fan of Eccos.
Do you want rubber soles or leather? There are pros and cons to both.
What style do you want: oxfords, wingtips, loafers, monk strap, etc?
IME, a good pair of dress shoes will require a break-in period. They will fit your foot snugly, but will get more comfortable with each wearing (like a new baseball glove). Additionally, I'd recommend investing in a shoe horn, cedar shoe trees, and ideally a second pair (if you plan on daily use). Most importantly though, you'll want to invest in learning proper shoe care. A reputable shoe repair shop will be invaluable in answering your questions. If you look at your shoes as an investment, a little bit of regular care goes a long way to stretching your invested dollars.
If budget is a concern, you can visit your local Famous Footwear or DSW (or other self-service shoe store chain) and get a decent pair of Florshiems or Bostonians for under $100. They will likely look passably dressy and be moderately comfortable, but they will get the job done.

I think that's what mine are...and if I'm recalling the name correctly, +1, very comfy.
About 10 years ago I was in a shoe store and on a lark I tried on a pair of Mephisto black dress shoes. Holyfreakingjeebus, I nearly had an orgasm. Fabulously comfortable. I've been meaning to find some again and see whether I was hallucinating or if there's a good reason I've remembered that event so vividly. |

I don't wear dress shoes all day, but I wear work boots all day and everything said here applies to work boots as well. I am quite glad that I spent the $300 on good work boots. My feet are never sore after a 10 hour day and they just simply better, in every aspect, than any other pair of boots that I have ever had. Plus they have lasted me longer than two pairs of $150 boots would have. Invest money in quality, it will pay out in the end.
