I just bought me a Schecter SS6, and it's a beauty, but also a tank. What would be the best strap to distribute the weight? I've been looking at the comfort strapp, anyone had any luck with it?

It is hands down the best and most comfortable I have used. Think of how much your bass was. Just be sure to put some good locks on your basses. You'll love it.

with my 5-string, i literally sometimes forgot it was on , but the 5 was really light...with my 6, it keeps me comfortable for long rehearsals, but i still know my bass is on for sure
+1 about getting the right length...i wear my bass pretty high, and there isn't just a whole lot of adjustment to each size, so i simply measured a strap like i liked it and ordered accordingly

I do use the padded Levey's for guitar, but those little toys don't weigh as much as any of my basses do, and when I play gutiar it's only for about 40 minutes at a time. Even those straps don't work for a 10 pound bass on my shoulder for an hour or more.

they do everything the Comfort Strapp does with wider and bigger cushion....
The 4"-wide Neotech Mega Bass Strap features a weight-reduction system and a comfortable design so you can play for hours on end without discomfort. The longer neoprene pad with patented control-stretch system gives you more cushioning across your back and shoulder than other straps. Plus the Mega Bass Strap has an extra layer of foam padding. The attachment is top-grade leather so you can rest assured knowing your bass is secure. Fully adjustable from 42"-51".
I can play almost twice as long with the neotech without dscomfort over the comfort strapp on the same bass
Got a comfort strap you can buy cheap...lol

Is that the same as Fender's Neoprene strap? It looks awful similar. I had one of those as well (might STILL have it, I don't recall if I gave it away or not) but I didn't like it as well as the Comfort Strapp. Close, but without the fabric holding it together, it was just too bouncy for me. Don't know if this is the same design though.
John

| | Registered User | | Join Date: Feb 2005 Location: Yuma, Az | | | I used to love my comfort strapp, but over the years my technique has changed, and now I need to wear my bass higher than I used to; I'm pretty short, and the comfort strapps (I have two) don't cut it anymore. They don't adjust short enough. They did feel good, though. I use them when I play guitar now, and keep one in my trunk just in case someone else needs a strap.
Buy a 4" wide leather strap. If you, like me, are vertically impaired and need a shorter strap, go to a tack and feed store, buy a wide chunk of leather, suede backed if they have it, and punch holes where needed. I decorated mine with spikes taken from a leather bracelet that had developed mildew. It's easily the most comfortable strap I've got--wider=better. Non-stretchy is better than stretchy. For me, anyway. I've got my bass where I want it, and my shoulder doesn't hurt as much after 4+ hours of playing.
