Most overrated music videos

Have you ever heard so much hype around a music video and then watched it only to find out how stupid it really is?

For example, I heard so much hype around the Windowlicker video. The first couple of times I saw it, I was like, "what? Just a normal rap video." But I was watching it on bad television sets at the time. When I watched it online, and got to see the chicks turning into guys, I got the same reaction when McBain got doused in acid for the Radioactive Man shoot - "My eyes! The goggles, they do nothing!"

Also, after hearing the hype about UNKLE's Rabbit in Your Headlights, I watched the video, only to find out how stupid it really was. Just a guy getting hit by cars. And then he gets up again???

One time, I edited the video with clips of Beavis and Butt-head talking, so it looked like they were bagging the video.

I would have preferred to see the first treatment for the video, where the guy was getting hit by invisible cars. Now THAT had potential!

Have you had any experience like that?

Just one case for me when the hype did not match the video, and that was Outkast- Bombs over Baghdad. Maybe I'm not stoned enough to see what the genius was on that mv, but it was nothing more than trippy, nothing groundbreaking in my eyes.

This is a bit of a different case, but The White Stripe's Seven Nation Army MV is definitely HOT, for about the first 10 times I saw it.. I jsut remember seeing it every other minute that it sickened me

That is all, IMO of course

I also love the 7 Nation Army videoclip. I also didn't really care for Outkast's Hey Ya when I heard it on the radio, but I loved the videoclip. I even bought the DVD!

pretty much any alternative rock video from the early 90's was nothing short of silly...

Anyone ever see the video for Spacehog's "In The Meantime"? I always thought that one was kind of rediculous, but in an entertaining way...

I love the song, but I never thought the video was groundbreaking, though fun. "Roses" is one of their best videos. I think Andre 3k was a little bit more creative on the video side than Big Boi.

Probably a really boring one but-

New Order's Blue Monday. Good video for the time but otherwise it shows the band as pretentiously arty-farty.

Yeah I really liked the Hey Ya video. I wish female popstars like Avril Lavigne and Katy Perry had the creativity to come up with that.
