Most satisfying bass riff?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey folks,

My low-frequency musical journey is progressing rather nicely, and of the few songs i've learned, i've noticed that some are much more 'satisfying' to play than others - examples are Maroon 5's 'This Love' and 'Harder to Breathe', or Pink Floyd's 'Money'.

Does anybody else have any nice and chunky basslines that they just love to play? Perhaps some of the Dream Theater stuff? I mention DT only because i'd love to play some of Myung's licks, but i'm afraid my fingers would fall off!

I'd be interested to hear your opinions.

~Loki

PS. Did I put this in the right section? I wasn't sure if it should've gone into 'Technique' instead.

I really love playing the bass riff from Aerosmith's "Sweet Emotion."

I like playing either the riff from Seven Nation Army or Sunshine of Your Love. Pretty good stuff right there.

"Spirit Of Radio" has one of my favorite main riffs. I really don't know why, it's just very entertaining to me. And when I can nail it, "Anthem" is pretty cool too. I'm just slightly crazy about Rush. Oh! "Josie" by Steely Dan is fantasmic too.

I love many riffs. I really like EW&F's Boogie Wonderland, No Doubt - Sunday Morning, Ben Harper - Brown Eyed Blues, Jamiroquai - Cosmic Girl, the list goes on, and on, and on

One of my personal favorites would have to be "Play that Funky Music" by White Cherry. Its usually one of the first songs I play when i pick up my bass.

I would have to say fairies wear boots from Sabbath.

The groove is real hypnotic, and the outro is such a nice release.
