I've been looking around but there are so many that I wouldn't know which to choose!

Fret Surfer - bass- I'm currently using this to commit the higher frets to memory.
Both of these are great for beginners or those needing to polish up on sight reading skills.

| | | | Does anyone use an app for your music book? one that shows and index pdf by song name so you can pull it up on a whim? instead of having to flip through an actual physical sheet music book? |

I use GigBook. It's great, and you can group charts into collections (say, for different bands), create set lists, etc. VERY handy! |

The Tempo metronome app is cool, but it keeps freezing on my iPod, so lately I've been using Metronomics more - it's really versatile once you get the hang of it, and the interface is brilliant.
I'd love to hear about cool theory apps for some of my beginning students, so... subscribed! |

Keeps a library of of songs. You can add notes on each song, such as amp or effect settings, which songs I need to sing backups on, if I should use a 4 string or 5 string for a particular song. Can even link to songs on my iPad, so that when I'm practicing a set list, if I need to hear a song to remind me of a part I can do that.
It also has a perform mode, which I use so that the drummer and I can both see what's coming.

iRig/Ampkit and the GK Bass Amp app is nice. I do like Amplitube as well,...but it's a space gobbler and the play along interface in which they convert you MP3s BACK into wav files for the purpose of slowdown and loop functions (which aren't important to me) is clunky and takes up even more space. Fine if you have a larger iPhone/iPad but I have limited space and prefer the streamlined play along on the GK Bass Amp model App. |

Lots of pre-programmed songs/progressions on their forum, you can also write your own tunes on the app or on piece of software(pc/mac). The volume of the percussion/piano/bass can be adjusted; tempo too. It even works in background.
You can buy the app with or without the style add-on (jazz, latin, pop). Personnaly, I don't need the chords diagram but the bought the 3 style packs. Costed me under 15$ if I recall well, which is significantly less than buying Band inthe Box. |

Touch OSC and iTouch are both controllers that turn your iPad into an APC unit and a midi input device.
There's also an app that lets you create your own controllers for ableton effects. So if you want to create a custom xy field or knobs or sliders or a combo on all you can set it up. Pretty useful. Drawing a blank on the name but it's on my iPad. I'll look it up later.
Mackie also has a killer interface that allows you to control a mixer rig similar to iRig except it's a mixer with multiple hardwire inputs. The demo video for it might be the best demo I've ever seen.
