I'll be here 'til Friday (travel day). GC today. Any can't miss music stores? Anybody got a gig? I'm up in Covington/Mandeville.

I grew up in Slidell, about 15-20 minutes east of your present location. Not that that gives anyone a reason to visit there - the reason to visit might be to go see what a hurricane can actually do to a city of ~50,000 people. What happened in New Orleans wasn't hurricane damage, it was flooding from heavy rains & tides caused by a hurricane, Katrina's eye passed directly over Slidell, no levee to protect it, my father's house was 9' above sea level, the storm surge put 6' of water into his house, and that house is a good 3-4 miles inland - gives you some respect for mother nature.
Hit bigbeefdog up, he's in Mandeville, mike v s is over in Slidell.
For "can't miss" shops, go west on I-12 for just over an hour, The Perfect Bass is in Baton Rouge.

Hope you're havin' some fun man...eat some mudbugs for me, willya??? | I've plotted out my course to Sherwood Forest, so I just might make it. I've had critters two nights in a row ... almost as good as Mexican food. We're having a great time, in spite of the fiasco getting here. We connected through Houston Monday night ... they'd had 10 inches of rain the day before. We missed our connection by less than a minute, and the bastriches at Continental wouldn't open the door. Luckily, my wife weaseled us onto another flight that was supposed to have flown an hour before ours, but was even more delayed, so we ended up being only an hour late.
I made my obligatory trip to GC, which was mildly lame, then took Jefferson over to the French Quarter to the Hard Rock to get some knick-knacks. I saw quite a few of the devastated areas. Then I met up with the kids at the aquarium for a while before dinner.
We had dinner at Acme Oyster Company last night, wolfing down sundry molluscs, crustaceans, gumbo and other things against my religion. It's been a great time here so far. We had dinner at Adelaide's in the Loews Hotel downtown tonight. Our friend is the operations manager there. Dana and our friends' kids got to go back into the kitchen and plate our desserts.
I checked out the Perfect Bass web site, it looks good. They sure have a lot of exotic-top Roscoes on order.
Anyway, thanks for the lowdown on the subterranean scumbo.
~ Munji

...hmm...
What YOU need to find is a Superior Grille - combination of Cajun and Tex/Mex. Dunno if there's one in operation in Nawlins, but there IS one happenin' in Red Stick, if you make the pilgrimage. Just ask any native, it's on Government St., if'n I 'member correctly.
I'm heartened to hear that the Aquarium is back in operation, that was a REAL mess after Katrina. I've been to several "world class" aquariums (a real thing of mine...), and that one is among the best (I still need to get to the one in Monterey).
Let me know if you're gonna make it over to BRLA, if so, I'll give James @ TPB a head's up, tell him to take good care of ya....

We do disagree, here. Ewww. Went there once; will NEVER go again. Would rather eat at Waffle House.
To each his own, I suppose.....
The House of Seafood in Bush, however ('bout a 30-minute ride)....... http://local.yahoo.com/details?id=18183736
