Muscle Shoals & southern rock show

Sign in to disble this ad
I was watching a show called Southern Rock on CMT and it was really interesting. It started out talking abotu how Duane Allman jsut shows up at Muscle Shoals asking to be a session guitarist there. He gets shot down but is allowed to stick around and watch. They were recording Wilson Pickett that day. The band and everybody went out to eat but Wilson and Duane stayed back because of how they would be treated by southern folk . Duane took this opportunity to convince Wilson to do "Hey Jude" with him on guitar. The arrangement was really awesome sounding with horns and everything. The famous rhythm section talks about how fun it was to record that song. I forgot how great Wilson Pickett's music is . Also that Muscle Shoals rhythm section is great. They play on alot of great songs.
