Music/Compositions that have come to you entirely from dreams

This is 100% true.
So i had a dream a couple months ago; a had a vision of a 50s setting big band playing this awesome A minor riff in almost unison and i saw the whole song performed by the band of my dream.
As soon as i awoke i tried playing the riff on my bass to make sure i could remember it...
Now, 3 months later, i've fully recorded this composition and submitted in for a College major assessment.

I just think the thought of composition coming via a dream is a pretty cool thing.

Anyone had any experience like this?

yep, several times.
it's weird how quickly a musical idea can vanish once you wake up though.
I think the next step is to picture it scored out in notation in the dream- that way you have both an audio and visual memory of it.

Does daydreaming count?
I travel by train a lot, having nothing to do except sit back and stare blankly into a random spot... So, sometimes my mind creates really complex and, dare I say, epic-sounding stuff. Too bad that I can't write it down on the spot...

I've never dreamt a composition before, but I've had a few great musical ideas while lying in bed that have been forgotten because I couldn't sit down and work them out.

I've had it happen 2 or 3 times in my life. It's always a frantic race to get the post-waking dream tune out of my head and on to staff paper before the idea -- or my memory of the idea, tainted as it may be by the very act of waking -- evaporates.

I woke up early one day off complete verse and chorus in my head. I don't really keep a notebook by my bed... But my dresser is always covered in the various things I take outta my pockets when I get home... Anyhow, the songs I have written so far, the lyrics come first, and they kinda decide the style of the song... I just kinda hear what the song should sound like. We are a Christian Rock band... but that song just styles itself into something kinda like "Smoky Mountain Rain" by Ronny Milsap. I have not been able to change it yet.

Anyhow, I thought maybe that song was divinely inspired the way I woke up with it... but a half hour later I woke up with most of a Star Wars related spoof of Lady Madonna in my head. So maybe not.

one time, i was dreaming that i was soaring through the galaxy in an old 50s convertible of some sort with some friends of mine. all the while, i was hearing this majestic theme in a lush orchestral setting.

i haven't yet written the piece that will feature this theme, but i haven't forgotten it in the 10 years since i dreamed that dream.
