I enjoy watching TV shows and movies about music, specifically musicians lives and what they do/ how they create music in the studio and after watching "Soul Deep: The Story Of Black Popular Music" and an awesome Barry White doco I'm itching for more.
What music docos have you guys watched lately or would recommend? I don't really care what genre of music, anything is cool. |

The Mingus interview footage and many of the various band performance sequences are as good as it gets IMO. |

remember the name, tho. | Let The Music Play: The Barry White Story. I used to like Barry White a bit, but after watching the movie I have a lot of respect for him, not only was he a talented singer and musician, he was also a great producer and songwriter. It's pretty sad that his family weren't allowed to be with him when he died. Quote: |

I've seen three of the Classic Album series that "The Making Of Dark Side Of The Moon" is from, Nirvana "Nevermind", Cream "Disraeli Gears" and Sex Pistols "Never Mind the Bollocks".
I've also seen the Australian version of the Classic Album series called Great Australian Albums, it was about "Diorama" by Silverchair, The Saints album "Im Stranded", "Born Sandy Devotional" by The Triffids and Crowded House's "Woodface"

Steely Dan's Aja.
I've also heard good things about Stevie Wonder's Song In The Key Of Life.

- Dig
- American Hardcore
- Standing in the Shadows of Motown
- Scratch
- Ramones: End of the Century
- The History of Iron Maiden pt. 2 off of the Live After Death DVD
- a good chunk of No Direction Home on PBS
- a good chunk of Ken Burns' Jazz on PBS
And if I see it on TV when flipping channels (usually on PBS), then I'll watch it no matter what the subject. Classical, Some of the ones I've been meaning to pick up are "An Ox's Tale," "We Jam Econo," "Moog," "Theremin - An Electronic Odyssey," and "Rebel Music - The Bob Marley Story." |

It shows how just how cool Newsted is, just how talented Hetfield is, just how much of a tool Bob Rock is, and just how much Lars needs to be beaten to death.
