So as it's been recently explained to me, there is a musical heirarchy in terms of ability and talent that goes something like this. Classical, Jazz, Funk, Blues, Rock/Metal, country, rap. True? False? any categories missing. The person I heard this from isn't exactly the sharpest knife in the drawer. |

Musical hierarchy my hairy hiney! What you got there is someones opinions founded solely in narcissism.
How can one really lay out such a thing?

If you can portray emotion through any type of music, and if people can identify with that emotion, then how much higher is there to go ? Granted, some music is technically more complex to play, but that does not necessarily make it "better", or "superior".

But anyway, I wouldn't support this kind of generalization, too. There's no such thing as "music hierarchy", I'd say.
