Not really, it is completely free to sing, play and enjoy when other people around you do it.

BUT

If you look at Maslows needs hierarchy system, it's indeed luxury..

No.

Music is found in virtually every demographic, every populated region of earth. People who don't necessarily have their basic needs met still have music.

Music, IMO, ought to be considered a necessity.

Food and water aren't luxuries, they are the basic nessecities of life. Shelter, well we are all lucky to live in a society where we can have a roof over our heads, though I still wouldn't call shelter a luxury. I dont understand how music is related to having a home, water and food. So I guess that answers your question.

musical instruments, equipment, recordings, these are luxury needs, as they are not necessary for music, and they cost money. however, music an be made for free, so music itself is not a luxury item. so i think.

Music itself - no. People constantly create music, even if it's just humming or whistling.

Live music in performance - to most people, absolutely yes.

At the very least. It seems that beyond life sustaining actions music is the most common bond that all humans have. It's not just a necessity..... its part of our identy.
