I am considering a move to Prague, CR with my management day-job in a tech company. I have been playing many styles of music for many years (over 35, yikes!). Lately I have been mostly doing jazz (all styles), world music (all kinds), blues and light rock originals in a quartet. I had a couple of questions for any who might be able to answer.
Is there a thriving music scene in Prague, would I be able to break in without too much trouble ? I'm not necessarily interested in a steady gig, but mostly hooking up with other competent players to keep my chops (such as they are) up.
What kind of music is happening there, or is it pretty much the same as in the states .. as in everything!
I have US originated gear at the moment, Mesa Walkabout (which I really love), and I know about the power differences between the US and Europe. Any advice on what to do about gear ? I don't think its that easy to convert the Walkabout, and I think power inverters/converters are iffy with such high current devices as bass amps. I have a good laptop set-up to practice privately, and of course there are many European brands that I could pick-up there. Any advice on this would be appreciated.
If you are familiar with Prague, any other advice you might wish to offer would be welcome too.
Thanks
