Music School Questions

I am wondering if someone who barely gets by on a college institutions jazz audition and gets accepted, would be at the proper skill level to not be struggling with the workload?

Maybe someone has a personal story?

I also am interested in hearing about how much you take away from a 4 year institution. Being relatively new (2 years), that person would be well versed compared to when he began. But how much more? Could this man, assuming the gig was available, do studio work?

I understand many of these answers cannot be answered exactly because of individuals learning levels, talent, etc. Im looking for a broad answer, so to speak.

Thanks!
