Music software question

Hey everyone. My band and I are on the search for some good software, but we don't know if it actually exists. We are looking to convert Wav to Midi. I know there is a lot of Midi to Wav stuff out there, but we want to go the other way. We would primarily use it for bass and guitar, and we would have the individual tracks. We have found that Intelliscore (http://www.intelliscore.net) kind of works for monophonic (one note at a time) but is pretty bad at polyphonic. Anyone know if there is anything else out there?

Essentially, we would like to capture some of our extended, un-rehearsed jams that we have saved as individual instrument wav tracks, and get sheet music of what we have played. If we could convert to Midi, we could then use some of the dozens of programs out there to convert Midi to sheet music.

unfortunately converting WAV to MIDI is not as easy as you might think it should be. There are a few programs that do some of this, but it's certainly not as fool proof as converting MIDI to WAV. Melodyne is probably one of the better programs that offers WAV to MIDI. However, it ain't cheap and it's more involved than just clicking a button that says "convert to MIDI".

I've been waiting for an effective, easy to use Audio to MIDI program for years and at this point I'm still waiting (and yes I own and use Melodyne....and it will work...to a point).

Good luck and if you find anything that really works for you, please report back.

thanks for the info, Seattle BassMan. That's more than we want to spend on some software. I guess I'll just join you and keep waiting for something else to be developed. I've been searching for 3 weeks now and haven't found much.

yeah....i'm hoping that we'll see some improvements in this area in the next couple of years. Until then I guess we just have to be patient :-(
