Music store in NorCal?

Any music stores worth checking in Northern California? I went to Guitar Center in San Jose and their selection of basses and equipment is very weak. Any places worth checking? Any high end stuff around? Help please!

Run, do not walk, to Gelb Music in Redwood City, CA. It is just up El Camino Real from Palo Alto/Menlo Park. They have one of the best bass departments in the US. Ask for Ed.

Try :Guitar Showcase in San Jose for vintage instruments.
They have many old Fenders & Gibsons behind some glass
doors you can try out.

+10000 on Gelb Music. They got a sweet selection of basses. Also, if you're up near Sacramento, you might want to check out Bass and Beyond in Elk Grove. They got a nice selection of high end basses.

Let us know how you like Gelb. Ed is the man! He sold me my two 535's. Lots of knowledge in Ed's noggin, and he's a good guy.

Be careful though. There are some STRANGE cats that hang around that place...

Bass and Beyond in Rancho Cordova is pretty impressive. Owner Juan Ortiz is very personable.
