I can't stand to walk into a music store and find all the basses out of tune and no cord to plug into an amp with.
I've never worked in a music store and I suspect the fact that no cord is available is maybe a sales tactic to force you to talk with a salesman.
But the basses being out of tune to me is flat unacceptable. If the tuning is close, that's ok. But when it's way out, hell no. Both of these issues are very common here in Kansas City.
Oh yeah and one more. When you walk into a room full of bass amps and none of them are even plugged in.
Anyone got any other music store irritations?

| | | | I worked at GC several years ago, and let me tell you, the bass dept is the bastard child of guitars. Most of the time they come out of the box and onto the sales floor. The amp thing is not just bass amps. When you are feeling lazy you just steal from another amp and then sell that amp and throw in some chords....it's a nightmare.
My pet peeve is people that sit around for hours and slap and pop or play death metal loud as can be.
Also know it all, uninterested sales guys.

I've seen Mesa ampd with scratches and tears and the store won't budge at all on the price. Or when the store doesn't have the manuals or anything that it came with. I won't buy it, I'll just order it and wait.

I don't mind the missing cords cuz i can get nicer ones from the sales rep. But what does get to me is any sales guy who will lurk over my shoulder and try telling me repeatedly that I'm going to totally dig the schecter over the MIA precision I'm clearly stoked on. Pussy sales people suck. |

Also know it all, uninterested sales guys. | Now here's the voice of experience. And at GC, I'll assume they hang the high end basses up high to try and avoid damage and insure salesman involvement. Which I understand, but yet either the ladder or salesman is not around to get it down for you.

I walk out of the store thinking "what a bunch of junk."

Obviously none of this thread means the end of the world.

Poor set-up (if any) is a real problem. The action is usually too high. Intonation varies. |
