Music Store selling my cardboard box basses

Sign in to disble this ad
the saga continues...

I’ve been purchasing musical items from Elderly Instruments Music Store since the 1980's.
It's the only store I approached to sell my Bogdon Box Bass.
I brought the box bass into the store and played it right next to a $6000 upright bass.
I knew what my box bass sounded like, I had the confidence that the Elderly Store owner would be honest to admit that my box bass was damn'd near equal in sound quality. And I HOPED that Elderly would accept the box bass as an item to be sold in the store.
Elderly requested a few upgrades in material quality, and then my partners followed thru with the requests. The price reflects the upgrades AND the box bass comes fully assembled exclusively at the Elderly music store...

I’m excited to be included in the Elderly Instrument Christmas Catalog. Although Elderly won’t ship the box bass yet, I’m working on that detail (I’m a postal employee) the Bogdon Box Bass is displayed, for sale, and selling in the store! I've never been this excited about my music ever. This is the best band I’ve ever been involved in.
Check out the Elderly ad for my bass at

Totally mind blowing!
I made a box bass in July, by November it’s selling in a store.
“follow your dreams…”

You know, I'd actually like to hear it. Do you have any soundclips?

Any plans for a 3 or 4 string version?

Congrats on Elderly's support. I've got relatives downstate that visit there all the time.

+1

cool idea. a 3 or 4 stringer would be sweet.

once assembled, can you pack it back up for transporting, or is it built and must stay built?

cardboard box bass

now in all fairness, talkbass.com is being very tolerant by allowing me to be specific about my product. i've been asked to leave other bass sites because i appear to be spamming...

but this has been totally mind blowing because i'm just some guy with a day-job and a bass.
soundclips = see and hear the video posted at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c6cTbaBApM4

i've sold 40 bass kits for $50 each! in 6 countries on EBAY.
the do-it-yourself-kit is shipped in a box for under $20 and my customers are making a second box bass out of the shipping box (i think its funny as hell)

today's kit can't be dissassembled, but Elderly asked for a feature that has a removable neck, and we're still in prototype mode. This is exactly like a band because we meet 3 nights a week for 4 or 5 hours and talk-assemble-tear apart-talk-assemble-tear apart-talk/ its song structure.

i will have a 3 string version.. prolly a 4 and 5 string too because sooner or later someone else is going to do this too.
