[Rant]
So, I just tried to place an order online at Music123. They've got a current sale involving a series of discounts over certain pricepoints and I've got their gift certificate from my birthday burning a hole in my wallet.

Should be simple enough.

Load up my cart, go to checkout, can't find a place to type in my Gift Certificate number.

Try every available screen. No go.

Call up customer service, who've previously been ignorant about their product, but they must be able to tell me where to input the code, at least.

Customer service guy says, "can't use gift certificates online, has to be a phone order only." Tells me to call sales.

Call up sales, who answers the phone using the name of one of another related business. He confirms I can't use my gift certificate online. It's phone order only.

Okay, that's your system. Lemme order what I would have online. I can still get the discount, get my stuff ordered, and be on my merry way.

Nope. Discount's for online purchases only.

Okay, well look, I want my $50 discount for dropping a wad of cash + the wad of cash my girlfriend already gave you.

I am only purchasing from you because:

a) I have a gift certificate

b) I can get the product I want cheaper because of your current promotion.

I can't use the gift certificate if I order online, and I can't use the discount if I'm ordering on the phone.

Skippy, my sales guy, checks to see if he can convert my "phone order only" gift certificate into an online accessible one. After listening to crappy muzak he informs me that he'll email accounting but can't gaurantee any estimates on how long it will take. "Few days, few weeks," few months? Who knows?

Well can you honor the discount if I order today, I'd like to at least get my order started?

Several minutes later, Skippy comes back and informs me that no, it's online only and it's written in the terms.

Skippy then gets several minutes of me explaining how this is unacceptable, and agrees on every point.

Total sale today for Music123 by Unrepresented: $zilch.

If I didn't already have money tied up in a gift certificate I'd write off all future purchases too. F***ers.[/rant]

I hate Music123. I have ordered a case before and they sent me a guitar case, sent it back and ordered a new one, but wait I get a guitar case again. When I talk to them on the phone they are very rude and ignorant. I have ask when they can get a certain item back in stock and the reply I get is, "Don't know", can you look it up,"Yeah, but it won't mean anything."

I'm done with Music123!!

Okay, so if I'm good at one thing it's that I can hold a grudge.

Just ask that asshat who thought my 2nd grade "show and tell" item was dumb, Jimmy Lewis. That's right Jimmy, you are still the one that's dumb!

Anyway, I digress. I reeeeaaallly want to buy the Pedaltrain PT-2 and I've still got this damn 100 gift certificate burning a hole in my otherwise empty wallet.

Do I purchase an item from them that goes beyond my obligations or do I keep stewing and spend more of my own money for it down the road? What's a bitter, yet broke person to do?

P.S. Jimmy peed his pants. True story. Pass it on.

Well, today was a day off. I called Music123 again, must've gotten a better supervisor this time because after my standard sweet talk they agreed to honor the long expired sale from last time I had called and they gave me the runaround.

So, in theory I've got a pedaltrain, a couple packs of strings, and some ear plugs coming my way with the $50 for spending $252.96.

This sales guy seemed to have it together more than the last one, and so far the only thing that concerns me is that I haven't actually received a confirmation email like I asked for...

But as of today Music123 is batting around .400. Still not enough to recommend them but enough for me to consider shopping there again if the price is right.
