| IIRC, my Schecter came in a box with some form-fitting styrofoam. I felt it was well-protected. I ordered a case for it, which came in a separate box.
I believe the packaging will differ by manufacturer rather than by retailer, but I could be wrong. Just in case, full disclosure: I bought the instrument from Best Buy not MF.
