Are musicians nomadic?

Does the average musician move more often and longer distances than the average non-musician?

It seems like quite a few of the musicians I've run across here are either foreign or are Poles who spent most of their lives abroad (a category which includes myself). In music I run across a much higher proportion of foreigners living here or "semi-foreigners" who don't speak Polish all that well than, say, at my day job, and I work for a very large multinational corporation.

Yes, another one of my random and pointless observations. But it would make sense that musical/artsy types would be more likely to be "free spirits" willing to move either across a country or to a completely different country even when they're not sure quite what they'll do once they get there.

Could be, though I don't play with or even know anyone who's a full time pro who makes their their living entirely from music. The musicians I know play only locally and with one exception all have been in the area for a long time.

The timing of your question is interesting though. I'm closing on a new house next week.

Yeah, I suck, I know that. But at least I suck a little less than I did yesterday.
