I've always been fascinated with the likes of Brian May (guitarist and astrophysicist ) and Bruce Dickinson (singer, pilot, international fencer ).

Anybody with other similar examples?

Randy Jackson was a pretty in-demand studio ace before he became a successful executive (and "Idol" judge of course). That impresses me since since IME usually the best players are the worst businessmen and vice versa.

I can make spaghetti.

Tom Scholtz from Boston went to MIT and invented the Rockman personal guitar amp, as well as several other pieces of gear.

Alan Sloan from the Dixie Dregs is a practicing medical doctor.

Mike Pope (who is a TBer)... amazing player (that is the understatement of the day!), and also designs and builds high end audio equipment (bass preamps, etc.).

Wonder how a guy like Mustaine could be into something that requires as much discipline as martial arts.

I am sure that several members of the TB family excel in their field, maybe not all of them at an international level, but I am sure that some must really be appreciated in their field of expertize.

EDIT: if the post derails the thread feel free to remove it

Geddy Lee is an expert at both Negro League baseball history and Rotisserie League fantasy baseball. Alex Lifeson is an expert golfer and adept at barroom brawling. Neil Peart is a published author and expert long-distance motorcycle traveller. And all three are very knowledgable in the art of suffering, having been fans of the Toronto Maple Leafs since childhood.

JJ Burnel of the Stranglers is apparently extremely proficient in Karate, and is the head of Shidokan UK.

I'm not a martial artist, so I have no clue what this means, but I'll bet it's impressive!!!

Joey Ramone (R.I.P.) was incredibly adept at playing the stock market.

Speaking of the Dixie Dregs, Andy West has had a successful career in the software industry since leaving that band. He still plays bass on various projects, though.
