Ordered an Asdown mag 300 combo, so first off it arrives 7 days late, then i open it up, whats this? and Ashdown cab, no combo ! nice... So, they get it back promptly, 7 days after my 14 day waiting period to get my money back, i make my final call to get my money back, they say sorry, it gets refunded in an additional week... nice. SO then i notice they dont refund my $70 shipping charge, i explain how i shouldnt have to eat shipping charges for them sending me the WRONG item, they claim i then cant get it back anyways... "let me speak to your manager"

So, 2 days later, i get that 70 back...

<--- Will never order from Musicians Friend again.

GL with them, hehe.

I've probably ordered 30 different things from MF at all different price points and have never had a single problem. Even returned things with no problem getting a refund. Sorry you had difficulty.

They are not one of my favorites, but rather than bash them, let me tell you I have spent a lot of money with Bass Central, and they are great. You might check them out. Beaver shows up here, but very rarely, he's very busy.

Oh, I can always get him on the phone @ BC. He answers it half the time. I was just pointing out he's a fellow TB'er, just seldom has time to show up. I'm too impaitient for E-mails so I just call.

FWIW, I have purchased items from MF, reps have always been cordial with me on the phone ... I had an item go on sale 30+ days after I purchased it, and they honored their 45 day price guarantee ... I returned an item from them that did not meet my expectations, they handled it to my satisfaction ... I paid shppg back to them, but that is the price of buying and trying ... I consider MF to be a viable alternative on many items ... sorry you had a bad experience ... JMHO

Not to bust your balls or anything, but let me ask why "it arrived 7 days late" ? Did they ship 7 days after they promised they would? Or 7 days after you ordered it? Or did it get delayed by UPS/FedEx ground for any number of reasons?

What made them liars, exactly?

Someone at a large company made a mistake and sent the wrong item by mistake. People work for large companies. People make mistakes. Likewise, the shipping portion missing from your refund may have been due to another employee's mistake, or perhaps you weren't quite clear with the person you were dealing with. You sound upset right now, and I can only imagine moreso when you were dealing with Musician's Friend. The person on the other end of the line had NOTHING to do with shipping the wrong item, and one might have bitten his/her head off, been rude, hasty, or any combination or permutation of the three.

Chalk it up to a bad experience. I don't work for, get paid by, or even prefer MF to any other retailer. Frankly, I couldn't give a hoot, but your horror story seems WAY out of line with my 30+ experiences along with many others here.

I wasn't going to say it, but that is the only company I have dealt with that a salesman actually laughed at me when I asked him to match a price.
Jokes on him. I spend a LOT of money on musical instuments. None with them, and I did get the item even cheaper than I asked him to go WITH GUITAR CENTER!

he must have been laughing at the fact that you buy stuff from bass central (way overpriced, or haven't you noticed...). MF has been very good to me also

Of Bass Central being overpriced. I've a been a purchasing agent in wholesale for about 17 years and am not used to buying high.

I"ve ALWAYS had great luck and GREAT service from MF, although I prefer to buy from a "little guy" when the pricing is close.

Bass Central pretty much rocks. They gave me the best price on the bass I was looking for after searching a lot of different vendors...

I think it's a bit of an over-reaction to some bad luck. Didn't they refund the shipping?

If I can help support a local vendor, I will. But sometimes it's hard to beat MF in price. I've never had a problem with them.
