Must give the good with the bad (GC content)

In the spirit of fairness, I have to relate a positive experience I had at of all place, GC.

I went to the GC in West Covina to kills some time this weekend. I was staying in the Pasadena area, but that GC is, to me, just dismal.

What struck me about the Covina GC that was different was just how tidy everything was - nothing just laying around, no cables on the floor, no instruments not where they should be... True, they had no real gear I wanted, even used... but I when I did find a couple of 1/4" plugs I needed, the girl behind the counter was very friendly - Cheerful, even... And she gave me two for one without me grinding her... The pretty girl at the exit was chipper too - - none of that idiotic "Rock star" attitude I usually see at any given GC.

I'm thinking that this GC must have a good manager - someone who knows how to run a store. So while all GC seem to carry the same consumer-grade gear, this GC was at least running a tight ship. Kudos to them. Should I need to shop at a GC again, I'll make the extra drive.

Thanks for the report Harry.

But don't make it sound like the exception to the rule. I have three GC's in my area, and I routinely get the red carpet in all three.

Going to a GC is like buying a Squier. They're great if you find the right one. The wrong one is just awful. There seems to be no middle ground.

There is one GC near me, and every time I have gone, it has been a positive experience. That is, the sales people left me alone until I approached one, and when that has happened, they were helpful, courteous, and professional.

There is not a Guitar Center in the city I live in (yet), however I delt with one in Kentucky over the phone when buying a bass cabinet. At least the guys I talked to were very friendly and helpful. They made the payment and shipping process very smooth and painless. Shipping was fast and prices were great as well. Like anything I am sure there is indeed some good and bad ones out there, however my experience with them so far has been great.
