My bandleader's rig...

I have nothing but respect for my bandleader. Not only is he a great showman, but also very caring, generous, and would give you the shirt off his back.

However, the rest of the band members (myself included) can't help but shake our heads at his rig. We always joke that one power spike and this thing will become self-aware a-la-Terminator. Coming out the back of this thing is a complete jumble of wires resembling a nest of angry snakes! His set-up time is about 45minutes getting everything set just right. It's a good thing we have a very good (and very patient) sound guy.

Wanna know the kicker? This is just for a tenor saxophone and one microphone for his vocals He wanders the venue interacting with the crowd when he sings or plays and therefore uses two wireless mics. He also has multi-multi effects running. Sometimes two different delays at the same time Oh well, thought some of you might get a chuckle out of it.

That right there is a cry for help.

Massive OCD. I don't care what instrument you plug into it.

IMHO of course.

There is a time and a place for everything. I myself use a Pod XT for some "tastefully" applied effects when required. Mainly tho, I use it for the volume control, and equal blending between my BG and my newly acquired Ergo EUB.

As a former tuba major and trombone minor at university, I prefer the sound of a natural sounding tenor sax (I'm thinking Coltrane) or any wind instrument for that matter. He claims he can't stand the sound of a "dry" sound. I guess to each his own...

Luckily, he does pair this monster rig down when he absolutely has to.

pshhhh.... more is more man!

i wish i could find someone as crazy and technical as that to play with; that, and a drummer that will also use both an electronic and acoustic kit.

as long as you can use it right, more sounds means more possibilities means more unique music. however, it will probably weaponize itself and kill you all.

I use that exact same EQ for an in house rig that I mix on almost ever week. It runs both the mains and the monitors.
