My Bloody Valentine

Just played a "Secret Warm up" show for Coachella at the El Ray Theatre in Hollywood and to be completely honest, it felt like I was watching a huge jet bast off in my face. My ears are definitely paying the price and i can confidently say that there was not one person in that venue who didn't wear earplugs. There really was no choice, first thing i was told walking through the doors was, "you need to wear these."

meaning.. this band had WAY to many amps, but it ruled! Of course this band's bass rig was ridiculous, two all tube Marshall VBA400 with matching Marshall VBC412 cabs plus a good ol' 70s SVT with matching 810. Kevin Shields FOUR full stacks. Some gorgeous bright red Hiwatt head with matching full stack, VOX head plus two matching cabs and yes two more super vintage looking Marshall heads along with four Marshall cabs. Yes there is a second guitar in this band and i don't feel the need to keep going but I'm sure by now, you get the point.

Man I love this band too much. Anyone else go to this?

I'd bet what was defening you was the PA. Not the backline.

Yes you are 100% correct, I think we all know how shows work here. My ears still have a lot of animosity towards me at this point though, and now that I'm all rested I can remember two separate occasions last night where a girl passed out next to me and a friend of mine. They played practically all of Loveless and i still find myself at odds trying to put into words what exactly happened last night, but to say the least it was a beautiful experience.

On their last song, they went into this "white noise" or low rumble of amps for about 12 minutes which was the most intense thing my body has ever felt since i last saw SunnO))) in October of last year. Thats what i meant when I said it felt like a huge jet was taking off in front of my face. It was retarded loud and after that they went straight back into where they left off and finished the song. word of advice, go see this band ANYTIME you have the opportunity to. I'll surely never forget that show for the rest of my life.

The last time i saw SunnO))) was in '06 and MY body is still rumbling

I would LOVE to see MBV.

Still though, The loudest show i have ever seen was Floor. Seeing Weedeater and Bongzilla in a basement is a VERY close second.

i got myself a job on the in-house crew for a Feeder gig. at 3 in the morning before the show, we'd got the PA ready to fine tune, so we put the most full-range song through it we had. Justin Timberlake - Rock your body. the bass from it was making my pack of fags hop across the table at about 40 yards, at 3 yards it knocked the ash from the end of it...

The finale of their show in Chicago a few months back sounded like ground zero at a shuttle launch. It was awesome.

typical

They played the Aragon Ballroom here in Chicago last September and were loud as anything can be. Same thing back in 91 at the Metro. Back then I was only 21 and didn't care about the volume but I had my earplugs with me last time. It's a great show.

A MBV show is awesome in the truest sense of the word.

Lots of bands, they play loud. I find that the louder they get, its goes from needlessly loud to annoyingly loud to I'm ******* leaving its so loud...

...then it gets My Bloody Valentine's live show loud, and with my earplugs in and my body literally shaking shaking from the vibrations of noise I realize this is something totally different. Its not loud anymore, its just amazing.

Joker,

I guess you missed the roseland ballroom earthquake they created when they came through NYC.

I was there. My bowels are moving much easier now - I think they rattled somthing loose.

eeeeeeeeeeeeeeEEEEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeeeeeEEEEEEEEEEEEee eeeeeeeeeee...http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tinnitus

Until you die.

Club bands did this all the time 68-75. No matter the quality of the musical expression, it seems a shame to flush good young ears away, but hey, enjoy the fun.

there's an easier chance of scoring yankees home opener tickets, than successfully fighting the hipsters scratching for MBV tickets.
