I've been playing exclusively originals since my teenage years and I'm 39 now. While I'm not totally giving up on doing originals, I was recently approached by a dude looking to start a bluesy/jammy/psych influenced trio. We plan on doing arrangements of mostly well known stuff from the 60s an early 70s. I've always resisted doing his kinda thing, but at this point of my life I just want to get out and play, have fun and maybe make a few bucks. I'm interested in any feedback, tips or advice anybody can offer.
I've been playing in blues/rock cover bands for 30 years and lemme tell you the audience is aging and it'll be working the early show at the old folks home soon. I've been exploring other options more in recent years doing roots country and variety acoustic acts on upright and we just added a female lead singer ex-burlesque dancer to our power trio and are taking it a whole different direction to spice things up.
