It's not with King Bowman (my band), but instead Erie, PA's Village of Dead Roads. I guess they could be called experimental doom, in the vein of Isis/Neurosis, but still really riffy.

I've got my first gig with them Friday, not a tour date, just a show. July 20th-Aug 2nd, I'm going on my first tour, and my girlfriend couldn't be more terrified. She's seen too many VH1 behind the musics, she thinks I'll snort coke off a groupie and go into a coma. Doom groupies? I dunno. And I don't think I could afford coke. They didn't give me a list of dates/locations, when they do, I'll give this thread a bump.
Unfortunatly, this will probably be a temporary band for me, I'm devoted to my first band King Bowman and frankly couldn't swing several band when the school year starts. It's funny, a year ago today, I was giving up on being in a band and settling in to record some solo stuff, now I'm being pulled in 4 musical directions other than my own solo stuff (which I don't have time for).

Is that guy in the pic wearing an Acid Bath shirt? Tres cool ! |
The only one I have
Traynor, Sunn, and Dean Edge Q-4. I'll open it up, see how the wiring looks. It's been real solid thus far.
Yep, Acid Bath shirt... that's the singer. That reminds me of something funny... not that this is an image based band, but everytime I see these guys, they've got sweet band shirts. I think it will be funny, they'll all have black band shirts, and I'll have a dorky Seinfeld shirt or some other random salvation army find. I'll stand out as the long haired hippie. I'll bring my hacky sack.

A friend of mine was talking with me about starting a more rock oriented ambient band. So there's another band offer... sorta. Lots of Delay creating rhythmic melodic patterns and building off them, could be cool.
That's the weird thing, you can post up ads at local music shops and on forums for the area, but it seems like the only way to get in a band is to already have a gig... it's weird, you already have to be in the scene I guess. So anyone looking for a band... just already be in a band.

How much money should I have (just in case)?
Are there usually laundry stops on tours? I don't want to bring 2 weeks worth of clothes, nor do I feel like recycling 4 days worth of clothes.
I'm looking forward to seeing all the sweet bands we gig with. We are playing some Doom and Grind festival which should be awesome, I know that is one date. There is maybe talk of going way out of our way to play a show with Deadbird. That would be awesome, but it's a maybe since it's such a long drive.

Maybe even play on the bill?
Seriously, don't overlook RI.
There was an article written up by Moby's bass player about what should be brought for clothing on a trip. How ever many days you're gonna be on the road, bring that many pairs of underware socks, half that amount for t-shirts, and maybe 3-4 pairs of jeans (or shorts)
I think that's a pretty good rule of thumb.

I'd love for your Troop of Echos band to open for us, that would be bad ass... not sure if you guys would create the same vibe as us. The only town names I remebered was New York, NY. I just remeber thinking... damn, I hope I'm not driving.
Wow, what Moby's bassist (isn't it Gretchen something) wrote is exactly what I wanted to do as far as clothes go.

We've been writing heavier songs, so who knows.
Hit me up in my various forms of contact info once you do find out your plan, man.

King Bowman should play Goucher (where I'm going to college)- I'll definitely start planning that when I get there ! |
