My girl is buying me a bass! I think.

Like the title says I think my girl friend is buying me a bass. But this might not be a bad thing. I know some people are probably cringing right now just because this situation could turn out quite terrifying but I think I trained her well.

It seems that none of my friends listen when I get over excited about new bass equipment and the only person that does is my girl friend. I have had long discussion with guitar player friends of mine about gear and when it goes to bass gear they tune out. I just figured that my girl who is musically and mechanically retarded wouldn't know how to pick out a bass.

I still don't know if she did get me one but if she did I'll keep you posted. But for now, has any one had a bass bought for them by some one els? If so how much did they know about basses.

Sorry, I've bought my own basses. Husband still isn't real sure on the difference between guitars & basses, so I[m just as glad he's not buying ... I can just see him bringing home a set of guitar strings for me as a surprise gift...

My girl got me a Squier CV Jazz.... because it was pretty. lol. It's a pretty awesome bass though. My bandmates thought it was a fender until they noticed the headstock. I love the tone. She does listen when I ramble about bass gear though because the other day she pointed at the exact bass amp I wanted and she knew it was the one I wanted. lol.

My mother-in-law bought me a set of guitar strings acouple of weeks ago as thanks for setting her new laptop. It was a nice gesture but ....... and, on top of that, they were acoustic guitar strings. I didn't say anything though. Even though I haven't played it in about 5 years or so, I do have an acoustic guitar so technically I can still use them.

My wife and son worked out a deal with Santa a few years back and I got my first ever fretless for Christmas that year. It was "only" an SX but it did give me an reason to try something new, which was pretty cool.

Well, at least if husband says something about not 'wasting money' on another guitar, I can always, truthfully, say that I have no intention of buying a guitar in the future...heh! (We won't mention the 5 string Dingwall Combustion I'm currently GASing for..won't be available until Sept and probably won't have $$ saved up for it until well after that, anyway; my "Dingwall Fund" keeps getting robbed to pay for various house repairs (I should have become a plumber!) or replacing vital appliances when they die, like the water heater, water pump, etc.)

Fiance bought me a set of strings, right brand, GHS right type, Boomers.Wrong set set of 5 for a 4 string bass.
Didnt want to hurt her feelings, so i tuned BEAD and gave the G to my bands guitar player, who now mooches extra C strings off of me now too.

She gets so upset because nothing she does could make me as happy as getting new bass gear. So she figures that buying me a bass would mean that she is responsible for me being beyond happy.

She's getting me an SX PJ with a maple neck by the way.

^ thats cool. Someday I'll try an SX. I'm trying to get my girlfriend to learn guitar so that she isn't completely worthless in a jam session.
