My Homemade Snake... complete with pics

Hey folks,

A while back, I made a 2-channel snake with AC power...

Actually, it's 2 Planet-waves cables and a gorunded extenstion cord laid together and zip-tied every 18" or so...

It's worked great, except that the edges of the zip ties after I trimmed them are sharp enough to grab my hands every time I pack up.

then I found http://www.cableorganizer.com/ I bought some of the PET expandable cabe braiding, and some heat-shring tubing.

Including shipping, 20' of the braiding and 1' (smallest size) of shrink tube was about $20. The extension cable is the standard black grounded extension cord you can get at any hardware store for like $3. The cables a pair of straight-straight Planet Waves.

I ran into some problems, as the Shring tubing was too small, so I had to use some talcum powder to make sure everything fit..

I used some lead wire to thread the cables through the braid.

Ran everything through, and used the shrink tube at each end to lock it into place.. voila!

so far, so good!!!

I am confused as to why you would need them attached to each other.

I run 2 amps, so each cable goes to a different amp, and the power is for my pedal board.

I stuck them together to make set-up easier, and once it's set-up, it's also much cleaner.

Personally I don't like running AC power close to signal cables, but if it works for you...

Why do you run two amps? Your pedal board is close enough to your amps to contain it in the snake?

I guess I just can't visualize how this is useful. Pics?

actually, the planet waves cables are shielded enough, that it's never been a problem.

I have 2 amps, one for clean, and one for th eeffects.

My signal chain is Bass -> Compressor -> AB/Y

A -> Amp 1
8 -> Pedal Board -> Amp 2

The snake brings the signal from the A channel on the AB/Y and the end of the pedal board up to my rig (I have 2 racked heads) and the power cable brings power from the AC conditioner in the rack to the pedal board.

I dont have any pics of the whole thing in action, but here's an old pic that might give a better idea:

Ahh okay I get it.

Sorry if I am a little slow. I am a bass --> amp kinda guy. It does look like it will save you tons of time with your set up and tear down.
