Just thought Id share something I just sent to Marshall, it was an idea that me and virtually every guitarist I know came up with. Quote:
Dear Marshall,
I hope this is the best place to send this, as I have had some trouble sorting out exactly which email address does what on your site.
I am now a bassist, but I spent some time as a guitarist, my dad is a guitarist and we always use Marshall. As a bassist, I now use a DI box, my favourite is the MXR M80 DI+. This gives me great tone, in a stompbox sized package, and now all my guitar buddies are jealous.
While they carry round heavy combos, or even halfstacks, my rig fits in my pocket, so I had an idea, Marshall could do something similar.
Say a simple two-channel preamp, maybe just with Gain, EQ and Volume on each channel. Any lesser company could manage this. However, Marshall could make use of its Frequency dependant dampening and 4x12 cabinet simulator to deliver full-on rock'n'roll tone from a pedal. Another idea would to be to make both a tube and solid-state version, for different sounds and/or price points.
Just an idea, and if you even consider it, I would like to know please.
Jack.
| Well? Im not expecting a reply, but it would be really cool when they release the 'Elliott Preamp/DI'

I was a little disapointed that Marshall stopped making decent bass gear. I would love for them to rerelease the Super Bass Head. the only (good) Marshall bass head they make is the VBA400 and that is pretty hard to find for a decent price. Good Luck and hopefully Marshall will give you an automated repsone |

I've still got mine kicking about somewhere. Sounded OK at the time, but has been made obsolete by digital modelling preamps like the Line6 Pod. It was handy for plugging in to the 4-track and headphone practicing (guitar), but I couldn't imagine it'd be a very good DI/replacement for a miked amp at a gig - no XLR output, for starters. The main problem with mine was that the pots seemed to get incredibly dirty very quickly. Last time I tried it, they were so fuzzed up the unit was unusable.

EDIT - Hey, the guy from MxPx uses one still! http://guitargeek.com/rigview/47/
