My son's first band experience.

My wife and I got my son drum lessons for Christmas and the music store/school that he goes to has what they call a garage band session in the summer. Basically they get some of the students together and rehearse for a couple weeks then get the parents in to watch. Here's a video of my son. Go easy on em they are all beginners especially the singer who actually plays guitar but no one signed up to sing and apparently he got the short straw.

There weren't any of us any better when we first started. Just let him progress at his own speed and most of all, have fun.

Yep I know. I'm just doing the proud papa thing. Actually he's probably better then I am on the bass. We started taking lessons at the same time but finances caused me to have to cut mine short. Grrr I'll get going again hopefully sooner rather then later.

I know that feeling. I think my boy was a better musician by the time he was 10, well preteen anyway, than I was when I played all the time in bands.

+1

He thinks it's about the drums/music.

You're helping him develop as a person by spending your time with him and paying attention to his endeavors. Helping him through the personal development process in a positive way will last him a life time!

Good job, dad!

Man this made me smile... but made a little homesick, too.

Thanks for posting that, DonovanJM. Gives us other 'proud papas' something to look forward to!

Thanks everyone. He really enjoys it. I just wish I could get him to practice more but I don't want to turn it into a chore that he dreads.
