Has anyone bought one of the SX guitars?
I'm no guitar player by any means, but it's fun to mess around with now and then. I've been eyeing an SX Tele. model specifically...

| | | | I'll be finding out shortly about the Agile line Rondo carries.
One of my best friends and favorite guitarists is buying one this week. He clearly has faith after playing my SX bass, and sold his MIM Strat to finance the purchase. He's looking at getting an AL-2000 model, which now has three neck thicknesses to choose from, aside from all the other options. I think he'll be happy. |

The tuners weren't that great, I replaced them. Pickups didn't do that well on distortion, lots of annoying feedback, so I replaced the bridge one. Now, aside from a little fret buzz it works fine.

| | | | Finally got to see and play my buddy's Agile AL-2000 LP-style guitar. It required only new strings out of the box. I'd say its comparable to a mid-range Gibson as far as quality, playability and tonal characteristics go. For only $200, its a stupid good buy. |

I'm a total noob on a guitar, so i'd rather not drop a huge hunk of change to get something that sounds good.
I'm guessing SX's "no restocking untill Christmas" extends to guitar as well... wo i may jump on one of these sooner than later.

Well, I can't speak for the new line coming out. However, I have two SX 6-strings, and I love them both. A STL 50 Fat Tele clone. This thing is heavy, solid, plays and sounds great. Set up was quick and easy.
The other is a Jagstang copy, powder blue, maple board, P90s, just an awesome guitar. Great tone and playability. Well-made. No issues.
Short answer: Yes, the guitars have the same reputation as the basses. You might get a lemon, but Kurt backs 'em up 100%. I also have an SX fretless P. I have gotten nothing but cherries from the SX line.

It was a solid guitar, however I found the electronics and hardware to be mostly subpar..not a big shocker given the price tag. Just to give you my .02, I played my friend's Fender MIM strat side by side with my SX strat and the Fender was clearly superior in terms of fit and finish, sound and overall playability(and I was not just blinded by the headstock logo either).
I still considered the SX strat to be a great value for the dough, and certainly not that much worse than the Fender to justify the price difference, but I think my opinion has been echoed millions of times in these SX threads.
I'd say get the tele, it'll probably be a nice axe.

This shows up at my house tomorrow. Depending on what time it comes out if you want I'll record something and post it somewhere Sat morning. I'm moderately bad at guitar but I'll throw a couple riffs down so you can get an idea of the tone. |
