Any news/info on this thing?

Kinda leery of NADY now.

I did have their original units when they 1st came out(mid 70's) and stuck with NADY up until the late 1980's. Back then they were made of METAL(transmitters and receivers) and could be dropped(ask our former roadies and me). Also back then, John was a pioneer and his stuff HAD to work or he'd become a "has been". The only issues we ever had was low battery life(before low power surface mount electronics!) and the antenna on the transmitter resembled a long piece of black spaghetti which sometimes got damaged or pulled out of the transmitter.

With the newer ones of plastic, we've seen problems(cracking, jack issues/failure)
no matter the "30 Hz" spec.

Switched to Sennheiser EW-172's.
Although the spec says 40 Hz ~ 18,000, we(my son and I) have had excellent results with 5 strings.
They are about 1/3 more than the NADY but worth it IMO.

With the NADY at $270 and a Sennheiser at either $379( http://www.americanmusical.com/item-...ENEW172G2.html ) or $450( http://www.americanmusical.com/item-...2G2-A-PAK.html ) I'd seriously think about the Sennheiser. Also, with the non-closeout one and a credit card(check card) you can put it on flexpay to help afford it(Did this with the one for my son).

Just my opinion.

FINAL NOTE:
No matter WHAT the "salesperson" tells you, check the factory frequencies your area!!!!http://www.sennheiserusa.com/frequen...er/default.asp
I had a number of online and real stores giving me nonsense-talk and trying to sell me "A" or "B" banks that prove BAD for the south Texas area. Since I check specs on instrumentation for a living, I called the factory and their fellow geekman said "No. You really need C band for that part of the country."
Saved me a LOT of grief.

Personally, I wouldn't purchase any wireless system until after the TV broadcasts have all switched over to digital/high-def. From what I've heard, the new TV frequencies will heavily overlap with most wireless mic systems, rendering them essentially useless. I could be wrong on this, though, so if anyone else has any more info, that would be great.

Hi.

Don't know about that particular unit and even less about the RF legislation in US, but I'd imagine there's strict RF bands that can legally be used in every area.

Here in Europe most of the countries have different requirements for short range/low output RF devices. The available bands for wireless CAN'T overlap with anything causing interference, the older units that use illegal bands are more or less useless. Or units imported from different areas. My VHF Nady falls to the former category, sort of

I remember a story from early 80's when the heat got fed up with a punk-band guitarist blasting away through their radios. The only comment when the unit was confiscated was said to be:"At least You should learn how to tune the damn thing"

So, as was said earlier, do Your homework before You buy about the available bands, it will save You a lot of grief later on.

Just my 0.02€
Sam

Ps.
A spare cord will be Your best friend anyway.

Here's more info on that upcoming event:

Channel frequencies:
http://www.fcc.gov/oet/dtv/tvchfreq.html

Current DTV Assignments by state:
http://www.fcc.gov/oet/dtv/start/dtv2-69all.txt

I'll only be bothered if C-Band gets filled up in south Texas but that is very unlikely.

IMO, this will mostly give cable and satellite a boost as a LOT of folks(me included) see no reason to buy a converter box(digital to analog) or new TV when the satellite/cable receiver dumps analog video out.
