Name Changers

I saw the other day that Snoop Dogg has changed his name, yet again.

Can you think of any other already well-established acts to so?

Start:

1) Jefferson Airplane > Jefferson Starship > Starship

2) John Cougar > John Cougar Mellencamp > John Mellencamp

3) Snoop Doggy Dogg > Snoop Dogg > Snoop Lion

More?

I not sure that one counts, as Yusef stopped playing his Cat Stevens songs, or any western music, until recently.

Prince to The Symbol and back to Prince

Garth Brooks to Chris Gaines and back to Garth Brooks, even though he claimed Chris Gaines was a fictional character.

Hi.

1. His Infernal Majesty > H.I.M
2. The Jailhouse Band > Apocalyptica
3. Most of the hard rock artists in the 70's and 80's
4. The Ramones musicians
5. Malcolm McLaren suffled the punk bands at will and changed their names a lot.

Almost all of the bands I listen to, the musicians have stage names but that doesn't count, right?

Regards
Sam

This was the dumbest name change ever. No one knew what to call him and just referred to him as "the artist formerly known as Prince". It reminded me of the scene in Monty Python and the Holy Grail with the "Knights who till recently said Ni :D

You are being too kind,sir.:eyebrow:

Remember the change needs to have been made after the performers have already become either nationally or internationally known.

Not during their bar or club gig days.

Actually, he did that because the record company would not let him release anything under the name "Prince" on his own Paisley Park Records because of contractual reasons.
So changed his name to a symbol, released records on his own label and after contracts expired, changed his name back. Another one beats big corporation. :D
