Need advice on possible lost bass through USPS

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi all - bought a bass on Ebay from an online store - store is in the USA, I'm in Australia. The store sent the bass and USPS showed tracking info til the 12th of August, nothing since. I still dont have the bass. Called USPS and they cant give me any other info than what is available on their track and trace website.
Also the girl informs me that I cant initiate an investigation, the sender has to do this. Probably not a problem there - the store has replied to my emails promptly in the past.
I guess my question is if things go totally pear shaped and my bass is lost where do I stand. I paid for International Priority, and I'm assuming by the Ebay conditions I have paid for insurance...

"Shipping insurance cost is included in all shipping quotes, for peace of mind and time savings."

Just wondering if anyone has had a similar bad experience and what the processes are?

Does the tracking show it's sitting in customs waiting for import duty to be paided?

I would contact the store and explain everything in detail, in particular that you requested and paud for insurance, and that they must follow this up or refund you.

No the tracking just shows where it left the Chicago sorting facility, nothing more. I did call USPS and the rep I spoke to suggested it had left from there to come to Australia but I have no real proof other than her word.
I have contacted the store and it has been a few days but I am sure they will answer me. Will see how things go from there.
