Need help with credits on an album.

Hello, I'm looking for some advice with how you would give credit to writers/lyricists etc. on liner notes. For example:

If someone wrote lyrics and a melody for me, and I took the lyrics and melody and I wrote and recorded all of the instuments (Guitar, bass, keyboard, drums), what would be the appropriate way to give credit to everyone involved?

Just based upon what you've stated here, and without any details, the first impression would be the folks that wrote the lyrics and the melody are the songwriters, you are the arranger and / or orchestrator.

If you're planning on selling the music, I'd recommend you check with a performance rights group (ASCAP, BMI, SESAC) and an attorney that is familiar with music composition rights.

Good luck.
