Need help identifying this vocal effect..

It's a device that imposes the instantaneus (sp?) "signature" (harmonic content) of a vocal on a synthesizer sound

X-Man...I like that band you linked. Nice.
Yarbrough And Peoples' had an early '80s hit ("Don't Stop The Music") which emplyed a vocoder.
