Exclamation in need of inspiration

Sign in to disble this ad
i myself happen to be an aspiring bass guitar player but have seem to hit a dry spot in inspiration and am looking for new stuff to learn but dont know where to begin.
so i thought id ask my bass playing bretheren (yous guys) what particular players or bands inspire you?
i try my best to be open minded to every suggestion, so sock it to me!

John Paul Jones. Sit down and play through a whole Zeppelin album.

Not sure what level you now play in. The Internet is full of backing tracks and song selections on video. Playing along to them is the best way I've found to find out what you do not know - thus something new to work on.

Google your favorite artist and play-a-long.

http://www.datamusic.org/video-count...g-musical-time
Scroll the screen down to find this backing track.

To help with the bass line riff for the G#m chord
http://www.looknohands.com/chordhous.../index_rb.html
Again scroll the screen down a little and find:
G# m
intervals: 1,b3,5
notes: G#,B,D#
OK the beat is 4/4 so you need one more note to round out the 4/4 riff try R-b3-5-b3 another B or R-b3-5-8 a G# in the next octave. Or work your way up to this. Start with just the root, then try root-5. The measures that have two chords in them; a Root-5 for each chord fills out a 4/4 measure nicely. See what you can do with this selection.

Challenge yourself to move to the next level.
