need someone with Guitar Center Warranty experience

Sign in to disble this ad
about a year ago I bought an ibanez bass from guitar center for around $350 with a two year replacement warranty. The jack has been starting to cut out for a few weeks and has recently gotten worse. After playing for 10-15 minutes it will start to crackle and cut out. It would probably be an easy repair but I figured since I paid the $70 for a warranty I might as well use it. The closest guitar center is a 30 minute drive from my house and I really don't want to have to wait and drive back there to pick up my bass if they are going to repair it. I also dont want to be without my bass for however long it takes them to repair it. What I wanted to ask was since I bought the two year "replacement" warranty, will they just let me get another bass off the shelf, or am I going to have to wait for them to repair it?

Why don't you just call them and ask?

Actually, what usually happens is this: Since you are outside of the 30 day return policy, which becomes 60 days with the warranty, there is an 800 number you'll have to call. You will have to answer a few questions (don't volunteer too much info), and then the warrantee company will either direct you to a repair center, or in most cases, total the guitar and cut you a check for what you paid for it. Then it's up to you what you do with the money.

Just remember that the warrantee group is essentially an insurance company. They don't know guitars. Most times I've seen them "total" the instrument and just cut you a check.

Good luck.

Thanks, will I have to take it to a place other than guitar center or will they just do it there?
